:: Einherjar Run – - Friday 27/02/09 ::

Well, well, look who finally decided to update!…Oh right that’s me…*cough* ANYWAY! There’s not been much to report so I decided to lump a few runs together. Though saying that this run was the closest we’ve come to a win and we were only at 17 members. When we entered we were met with hounds, krakens and an Oboron boss. I was surprised at how quickly the lesser mobs were taken down considering we were undermanned and we even got the boss down to around 50% before timing out. It does make me wonder if Einherjar scales. It’s not extremely noticeable as it was still a challenge, but this run did feel as if it it had been adjusted in some way to match our member base. Of course this is just me eyeballing it so take from it what you will. Overall a brilliant run that could hae easily been taken out if we had our usual member base.

Note: Either I missed it or a NM did not pop during this run as usual. You guys would need to clarify that as I can’t be on vent when allianced lately, saps too much of my connection.

:: Einherjar Run – - Friday 06/03/09 ::

Hold up! What about Tuesday? Well our run on Tuesday was cancelled in lue of several new members that were meant to be starting today, so we thought we’d take a break and regroup to hopefully claim our first win. Despite that I only saw one new member turn up, so welcome Thaumus (sorry if I spelt that wrong ; ; ) and we ended up going in with one of our lowest member counts to date simply to get people enough ichor to finally be able to purchase items. Obviously it wasn’t a win, not even close, we just took out what we could. I only actually saw one kind of mob in the chamber today (ghosts)  though which was a little odd as we’ve always had two and furthers my suspision that Einherjar is indeed scaled in some small way. Certainly not enough to absolutely guarentee a win.

Anyway congratulation to Accolade on your Omega Ring and everyone else that got enough ichor to purchase item! :)

Here’s hoping for an end to the wooly attendance and some wins to report soon.

Appologies about the lateness again but I was busy writing up the strategy for Himinrjot…which after all that effort doesn’t want to display the written portion of the strat…just the pretty picture. Hopefully I’ll sort it soon, but until then…enjoy the picture!

Anyway we went into Siegrune’s Chamber, which just eyeballing, always seems to give a pretty lenient set of mobs to kill in the 30 minutes compared to the other two. Though we’re probably just getting lucky so I’m not going to read too much into that. We had 20 people in all keeping our puller outside the main alliance as ever and we were met with hounds, ghosts and the Wivre boss. I was very surprised at how weak the hounds and ghost were and they died extremely fast compared to monsters on our other runs. The hounds had a nasty paralyze but other than that they gave us no trouble at all.

The bird that gives the claming message popped near the beggining but we weren’t able to get a claim on it as it despawned particularly quickly this time around (about 20 seconds). It didn’t really matter though because as I said the lesser mobs weren’t giving us any trouble.

We got to the boss with around 5 minutes or so remaining, and everyone unloaded all they had once more to see what we could manage. This time Mr. Cojach even busted out his kraken club on DRK knocking off a rather impressive 17% on his own. Sadly we timed out just as it hit 62% health. The wivre boss didn’t seemed rather weak overall but it has a nasty combination of a hefty attack down and an extremely potent stoneskin (enhanced versions of the normal Wivre TP moves) that can stop the melee doing any damage whatsoever if it’s not dealt with.

It's behind you Jung! For the love of Altana turn around! ; ;

:: Einherjar Run – - Friday 20/02/09 ::

Ahck late again! Hmm this is probably going to be the norm with the friday runs, real life stuff and all that. Anyway we tried Grimgerde’s again with 20 people, keeping our puller outside the main alliance once more with a ninja for company should things get a little hairy and to watch out for the NM. We were met with skeletons, bugards and the buffalo boss (again -.-).

Overall, there’s not much I can say about this run as it all went very smoothly. Everyone did their jobs, no one died and we cleared all the lesser mobs in the chamber before running out of time. The tiger spawned halfway through and this time we were able to grab it, bring it to camp and keep it there, dispelling our earlier thoughts that it ignored any attempt to get hate on it. I guess we were just unlucky last time. With about three minutes left we started on the boss to see what damage we could do. One of the red mages chainspell stunned which helped alot, while everyone else put everything they could into it. We managed to get it to 75% before timing out once again. Everyone is now pretty confident of the strategy to use in taking down the buffalo boss so I’ll be writing it up here soon as best I can.

I think it’s pretty safe to say at this stage though that we are going to need a fair few more people if we want to start winning these chambers. We’ve more than proven we can handle this as a group, we simply don’t have enough bodies to get to the boss with enough time remaining to finish it off. Oh well, it’s all good fun, we’ll get there eventually! Awesome run guys! Here’s the obligatory pics to round off :D

Freeze!

Either Det is the guy swinging that or huge axe...or he just imploded on the Bugard...

- – The Tiger does not have any strange behaviour pattern as first thought. It can be brought to camp and kept there after all :)

The Bats and the Bull

:: Einherjar Run – - Tuesday 17/02/09 ::

Today was our best run so far and for once SE was pretty kind to us. We went in with 18, keeping our puller outside the main alliance to test one of our many hate theories. Nobody died, however, so nothing I can discuss bout that for now. The bats went down easily, my highest WS doing over 1600 damage. We killed the bird NM halfway through and got the message that the beasts lurking in the shadows had calmed. I thought this implied that the mobs would now die quicker but I don’t think this is true. The bats took just as long to kill but they hit for alot less that they did before we got the message (yes I deliberately pulled hate and didn’t super jump it away to test this, sorry Poppi >.>)

We finished off the bats with about 7 minutes left and went to have a crack at the bull, pulling it into the tunnel in the chamber so as not to be snorted all over the chamber.

I'd be pissed if a radioactive squirrel smacked me across the face too! :P

We managed to get it to 76% before timing out. With a few more bodies, blms and someone that could chainspell stun we could have won quite comfortably. A stunner is a must for this boss as its hate is entirely random and snort has it knocking people all over the place. I lost 100% TP three times because it was constantly moving out of range. Oh well it’s still hilarious to see people flying everywhere XD Its attacks seemed pretty weak.

:: Things to remember for future runs! ::

- – It may be better to leave the bird that gives the ‘calming’ message to despawn. The mobs don’t hit as hard but other than that I haven’t noticed any great difference. I guess this is heavily dependant on what mobs you get though.

- – Fighting the Bull boss in the tunnel proved a great strategy but everyone must remember to keep their backs to the walls as best as they can. He also certainly takes greater damage from behind, so melees should try their best to stay behind it. Chainspell stun is a must to take this down affectively.

Elemental Hell

:: Einherjar Run – - Tuesday 10/02/09 ::

We tried Grimgerde’s Chamber again today with a total of 24 people. We lucked out with a room full of worms, dark elementals (in double dark weather) and a Malboro boss. Things were going well as they always seem to at first, then all hell broke loose as our puller got a little to close to the boss. Poor scott ; ; always taking one for the team!

A few momets later this was the chaotic scene back at camp:

Oh dear...this wasn't what we ordered ; ;

Oh dear...this wasn't what we ordered ; ;

Sleepga caused much mayhem and we took a wipe halfway through. We reraised up and finished off what else we could for the Ichor before the time ran out. I think we could clear a chamber with 24, I really do…though SE needs to play fair first damn them. It’s becoming quite clear already that this is a tough endgame event and their really isn’t much room for error, perhaps none in fact if you stand a chance of winning the chamber. Though when you get something like this I can’t help but question the makers idea of ‘reasonable’! Oh well, onwards!

:: Things to remember for future runs! ::

- – Just like the Tiger on the last run, we noticed that mobs that were claimed, stayed claimed, even after the wipe. Once we got back up they eventually returned to the camp but did not bring links. The person who claimed the tiger last time died soon after, perhaps this is the reason it wandered of again while remaining claimed. We’ll see what happens when we bump into him next.

- – Our puller mentioned the boss aggroed him during the pull that triggered the mass of elementals but it did not come over to the camp. This suggests that sight aggroing the boss does not trigger alliance hate and that only claiming it will have this effect. This explains why only the chigoes, that the marid boss spawned on our last run, returned to smack us in the face while the marid stayed put (the chigoes showed as claimed, the marid did not).

- – That being said I would suggest that once something is claimed in the chamber, no matter what it is, it stays claimed and will return to the camp even after a wipe. This makes the text colour of mob names a very useful tool in determining just what is going to be coming back for more and what your group should be focusing on. If this is true then it would also be very wise to have as few mobs show as claimed as possible at any given moment, or at least no more than your group can handle. If a wipe seems likely, take down the mobs with purple and red names as soon as you can while letting any links kill you. So basically if it’s name is yellow and you’re the last one standing, leave it the hell alone!

Flea Infestation

:: Einherjar Run – - Friday 6/2/2009 ::

My first entry and I’m two days late…pretty safe to assume I’d be fired as a reporter in real life by now >< Oh well, onwards!

We decided to take a break from Rossweisse’s Chamber this run to try our luck in Grimgerde’s, not that it would really matter but it’s nice to mix things up now and then. We entered with 19 people and were greeted with a room full of Chigoes, skeletons and our old favourite, the Marid boss. The run started very well, the chigoes in particular were dieing very fast. Only when the tiger spawned did things start going a bit wrong. We got the claim on it as normal but instead of wandering over and attacking the claimee, it decided to carry on roaming around the chamber completely ignoring anyones attempts to get hate. At the same time a whole bunch of chigoes decided to not play by the rules and link. They were slept no problem but in the confusion a group of skeletons also decided to walk over and have a pop after spotting some nice, juicy yellow HP. Oh how fun!

In all honesty we probably could of got out of that one as there were only three skeletons and around two chigoes left at that point. the clincher, however, was the marid feeling left out, trumping over to the camp, spawning his stupid chigoes and completely overwhelming us (we don’t know what caused him to do this). Unfortunately this ended the run about 15 minutes early as we soon were able to confirm that the boss of the chamber does have alliance hate. Anyone that attempted to reraise was soon met by an angry mob of blue chigoes smacking them in the face…lesson learned I think.

(

Our unfortunate wipe :(

:: Things of note for future runs! ::

- – The tiger that spawns (forgot the name sorry) will ignore any attempt to get hate on it. Though it will show as claimed it will not come over to attack. It did wander close to camp at one point so in the future it would be worth notifying the BLMs if the tiger is spotted so they can nuke it down quickly when it wanders within range.

- – The Boss of the chamber has alliance hate. If entering with only one alliance a wipe to the boss pretty much means game over. Let’s hope we can get some more interest in this event soon! :)

Welcome!

Welcome to ThatOtherLs’s new Einherjar blog!

We found the lack of information on this event rather frustrating so we decided to start a record of our own experiences for future reference. Over the coming weeks I will be keeping this blog up to date with our runs and possibly expand to include boss strategies. Although this is mainly for our LS’s benefit there is no reason why others can’t get help from this venture either. So stay tuned!
